We are excited to announce this year’s Camber tennis holiday, which will be on 12-19 July at Praia da Luz, a Jonathan Markson venue in the Algarve.
It is the very venue which the club went to last summer (http://www.marksontennis.com/docs/JMT_Tennis_Holidays_in_the_Algarve.pdf). Please do not hesitate in asking those who went (Alex, Judy, Midge, Chris, Ross F, Ellen, Shaun, John S) for further details. I think I speak on behalf of everyone that it was very much a great success and it is testament to the fact that we hope to return in 2015! I very much hope that this is of interest to you all!
The ‘key details’ are as follows:
Dates – 12th-19th July
What tennis is involved – 3 hours of coaching each morning (no more than 5/6 on court in a session) and free access to courts at other times
Accommodation – large modern self catered apartments accommodating two twin rooms each (google Baia da Luz for an idea of the type of apartments) or single room accommodation at Hotel Luz Bay inc breakfast (http://www.luzbayhotel.pt/)
Price – a ‘ball park figure’ for the tennis and accommodation is £530-595 depending on what accommodation you have. Flights are looking at about £150-250 at the moment. As we are a group booking we have to book tennis and accommodation together. Please note that whilst I will try my best to cater for all accommodation preferences (i.e. hotel or apartment), it may be impossible based on numbers (for example if 7 people prefer to share an apartment but only 6 places in the apartment) but, as the hotel is only across the road from the apartment, it really didn’t have any impact last year (Judy and John thoroughly enjoyed staying at the hotel last year and used the apartment as a ‘pre/post dinner drinking/nibbles hub’).
Transport – we will organise a mini bus to and from the airport.
Praia da Luz is a vibrant town on the Algarve with many bars and restaurants. There is a stunning beach and access to pools next to the apartments. Everything is walking distance (2min from the courts, 10min to the beach, and no more than 15min to many restaurants). There is also easy access to a local excellent golf course which with morning-only tennis lessons we could play in the afternoon(s).
Based on this could you please respond by end of Tuesday 20 January if you are wanting to attend. Please indicate accommodation preference. A deposit of £75 per person will be required to be paid when I place the booking with Jonathan Markson next week.
